Complete the SUMM Volunteer Application. The application can be found here: SUMM Volunteer Application
2. Once you have successfully completed and submitted your application, you will see the following screen:
3. You will receive an email with the subject line “SUMM Volunteer Application Acknowledgement”. This confirms that SUMM has received your application and you will receive follow up within 5 business days.
4. Click the link in the email to create a Neon One account. Your Neon One account will allow you to access our portal in order to sign up for volunteer shifts and track your volunteer hours (Link to Create Account)
5. Once you click on the link, you will be taken to the ‘Set Login Name and Password’ screen. You will be prompted to create a Login Name and New Password.
If you already have an account created associated with the email address that you used in your volunteer application, then you can skip this step.
6. Once you have successfully created an account, you will be taken to the following Dashboard.
PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP FOR AN EVENT UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED CONFIRMATION TO DO SO BY SUMM.
7. As noted in the “SUMM Volunteer Application Acknowledgement” email, you should expect to receive an email update letting you know about the next steps in the process: background check and reference checks.
8. Once the SUMM Volunteer Coordinator has reviewed your application and recommends that you move forward with the process, you will receive the following email:
9. You should expect to receive an email from ‘Sterling Volunteers’ asking you to complete a background check.
Please be sure to click on ‘Order My Background Check’ and complete the required actions within 72 hours.
10. You should also expect that we will be reaching out to your references within the next 1-3 business days.
11. Once your background check has been processed and your references have been completed, you will be cleared to move onto the next step in the process and receive an email outlining next steps which includes: training modules, reviewing the volunteer handbook, and signing up for your first event!
