Math + Art

We believe that the intersection of math and art can create beautiful and interesting work and highlight how math is found in the world around us. We have done two exhibitions, highlighted below.

If you are an artist, gallery, or organization interested in exploring future exhibitions with us, contact us.

For this show, we sought works that provided viewers with mathematical “aha” moments, used mathematics to illuminate facts about individuals or societies, or otherwise emphasized the humanistic aspects of mathematics.

This show ran in March and April 2025 and was jointly produced by SUMM and the Mercer Island Visual Arts League (MIVAL), with support from the City of Mercer Island.
