SUMM @ Kent Station

A New Place for Joyful, Hands-On Math

Seattle Universal Math Museum is opening a public-facing community math space at Kent Station — a place to explore, play, and discover math through hands-on experiences.

This space lets us meet people where they are, turning everyday public spaces into welcoming places for curiosity, creativity, and joyful learning.

Whether you’re a math enthusiast, math-curious, or just passing by, you’re invited to drop in and explore.

Operating Hours

We offer a mix of Open Hours and Facilitated Experiences. Visitors are encouraged to drop in any time we are open to explore our interactive exhibits and participate in hands-on activities at their own pace.

  • Open Hours: Explore the museum, tinker in the MathHappens Math Room, and engage with our rotating exhibits without an appointment.

  • SUMM Studio Hours: These facilitated sessions offer guided programming and expert instruction. Your registration for a Studio session includes full access to the museum during open hours with no additional donation requested.

Check our events calendar for our current studio themes and registration details.

  • Platonic Solids: Fold the five fundamental convex polyhedra to explore 3D symmetry.

  • Monocular Illusions: Use paper folding to challenge your perception of depth and space.

  • Froebel Folds: Discover how the creator of Kindergarten used folding to teach geometric relationships.
