A Public Art Exhibition

Mathematics and art have the power to reveal truths—about the universe and about what it means to be human.

In Spring 2025, Seattle Universal Math Museum (SUMM) will celebrate this theme with a public art exhibition.

For this show, we seek works that provide viewers with mathematical “aha” moments, use mathematics to illuminate facts about individuals or societies, or otherwise emphasize the humanistic aspects of mathematics: that is, the “aesthetic, cultural, historical, literary, pedagogical, philosophical [or] sociological aspects of mathematics as a human endeavour.” [source]

We particularly welcome pieces that have the potential for accompanying activities that are suitable for a general audience of all ages.

This show is being jointly produced by SUMM (Seattle Universal Math Museum) and MIVAL (Mercer Island Visual Arts League), with support from the City of Mercer Island.

Exhibition dates:
March 1, 2025 to March 1 2025

Location:
Mercer Island Community and Events Center (MICEC)
8236 SE 24th Street
