The Square Giving Circle

The Square Giving Circle is SUMM’s sustaining donor community. Anyone who becomes a recurring donor, whether giving monthly or making a paid-in-full annual recurring gift, is invited to join the Square Giving Circle. Puzzles

We kicked off the Square Giving Circle with a series of 10 puzzles. Each of the first 9 puzzles contains a clue to a larger mystery in a final Meta Puzzle.

This December, thanks to incredible support from across our region, we grew from just 9 recurring donors to 45 — a 400% increase in dependable, year-round support. These 45 donors will bring SUMM more than $11,000 over the next year. Their generosity strengthens SUMM’s ability to plan ahead and bring joyful, hands-on math to more students, families, schools, + libraries.

To celebrate this milestone, we will release a puzzle each Wednesday for the rest of December. On New Year’s Eve, we will reveal the Meta Puzzle (though Square Giving Circle members receive early access as soon as they join).

You can play, solve, and submit your answers for a chance to win one of two prizes. All entries are free, all puzzles are open to everyone, and every submission helps us spread a little more math joy across our region.

To enter, every time you solve a puzzle, email the solution to puzzlehints@seattlemathmuseum.org. Every solution is an entry. If you send a screenshot of a social media post sharing the puzzle, you get a bonus entry.

We will hold a drawing on January 7 for two winners:

  • Math Joy Prize Pack: The winner receives a fun, math-y mystery prize pack.

  • A SUMM Family Math Night: The winner chooses a school where SUMM will host a full SUMM Family Math Night, bringing hands-on math play to an entire school community.
