Andrew Ryan
Educator
he/him/his
Andrew is a teacher passionate about changing the landscape of education. He was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, but now lives in the beautiful city of Seattle. Andrew attended University of Washington where he studied Ethnomusicology and the Comparative History of Ideas, and has recently returned to higher education to work towards a Master’s in Teaching and an endorsement to be a school librarian. Before working at SUMM, Andrew was a campaigner for the World Wildlife Fund, a plant ambassador at the Seattle Spheres, an accessibility specialist at the Tacoma Museum of Glass, a creativity instructor at Kids Science Labs, and a Montessori preschool teacher at Willow Creek Children’s House. He is eager, exuberant, and always ready to dig into… ‘SUMM’ math, so to speak.
On the off days, Andrew plays trumpet in the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra, is an avid fan of the reality-competition show, Survivor, and loves books, writing them and reading them. He has twenty-eight children, though of course they are all plants.
