Math in… Computers

Digital computers work using electrical signals made up of sequences of high and low voltages, which we represent as binary strings of 1s and 0s.

Clusters of electronic components, like diodes and transistors, interpret these voltages in order to physically perform simple mathematical operations, like deciding whether two signals are the same.

By combining a bunch of these simple operations, computers are able to use electrical signals to run the complex programs you use everyday!
