Math in… Cake

We have one big cake that has been sliced. How do we express each piece in relation to the big cake mathematically?

This is where fractions come into play! Each piece is 1/10 of the cake.

The numerator of the fraction, 1, means that we are talking about one piece of the cake. The denominator of the fraction, 10, means that the cake is divided into ten equal-sized pieces in total.

Similarly, two pieces will be 2/10 of the cake, three pieces will be 3/10 of the cake, and so on.
