Nick Rauh
Mathematician in Residence
he/him/his
A Tacoma native, Nick didn't see himself as a math person until the point in his education when numbers started getting replaced with letters. Intending to major in physics with heavy mathematics coursework, he accidentally graduated as a math major from Harvey Mudd College before ultimately earning a PhD in number theory from the University of Texas at Austin on purpose.
Since then he has split his time between higher education and math enrichment for K-12 students. He has held positions at Texas State University, the National Museum of Mathematics, and Sarah Lawrence College. He is currently based in Seattle working for the Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival, where he designs mathematical games, puzzles, and other activities. When not mathing, Nick enjoys music, homebrewing, and video games.
