We reached our seed funding goal!

We met our seed funding goal of $150,000!

A million thanks to all our donors throughout 2021. With these funds we will continue our work with various professional consultants and contractors to:

  • Further develop plans for the design and content of the future museum

  • Enhance our business plan, assist with real estate guidance

  • Boost marketing and communications

  • Formulate our next steps for more fundraising

We are well on our way to building SUMM, to highlight how math is everywhere and for everyone. We look forward to sharing our progress with you throughout 2022.

Next step? Museum Project Planning!

SUMM is excited to dive deeper into our museum concept design phase this month. We will be working closely with our museum planning consultant team which includes: FRAME, WEATHERHEAD Experience Design as well as a group of experienced designers, developers, drafters and estimators.

As a part of this next phase of planning we will further build on SUMM’s current goal of having a museum housing 7,000 sq. ft. of exhibits, as well as classrooms and event spaces for additional programming such as camps and lectures. We will also consider options to develop a smaller exhibit space for a partnered pilot program within an existing museum. (We will have more details on this exciting partnership for you in the coming months!)

This phase of work will include the following:

  • Project Definition – schedule and scope confirmation

  • Exhibit Content Outline – includes identification of main messages, stories and themes, audiences, key visitor experience parameters

  • Visitor Experience Narrative – description of the “primary” built exhibit experience

  • Design Deliverables – including bubble drawings, sketches and visualizations/renderings

  • Cost Estimates – more refined building and operating costs

  • Documentation – of design, workshops and technical documents

These deliverables will also help round out our business plan, which is currently in progress.
