Discover the SUMM spark

Seattle Universal Math Museum (SUMM) unveiled a new logo designed by renowned New York based graphic design superstar, Cory Schmitz. His works include logo designs for many popular video games-related brands and companies, such as Oculus Rift, PlayStation Studios, Polygon, My Famicase Exhibition, Insomniac Games and many more.

SUMM’s logo represents bringing the wonder of math and creativity together to have fun. Designer Schmitz said the inspiration for the logo came from the basic math operations, creating a “spark”.

The logo is a graphical representation of SUMM’s mission to spark each and every person to love math.

A surprise Seattle connection was made after SUMM approached designer Cory Schmitz. Siobhan Daly, SUMM Secretary to the Board, had mentioned the need for a logo to her fiancé, Saxs Persson, Co-Chief Creative Officer for Mojang Studios, and he said he had just the person in mind — a game logo designer, Cory Schmitz.  After making the connection, Saxs learned that Cory is a Seattle native and a graduate of Cornish College of the Arts. Schmitz was enthusiastic to support the creation of a math museum in his hometown.

The logo design was generously supported with a gift from Siobhán Daly and Saxs Persson.

We hope you will be inspired by our new logo to love math and to show SUMM love.
