Dr. David Scott

Advisory Board

Dr. David Scott is currently the scientific editor for the Math Circle Library series of books being produced by the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) and the American Mathematical Society (AMS). This work follows his formal retirement from the University of Puget Sound, Tacoma WA where he taught a range of undergraduate courses, and, in partnership with Tacoma Public Schools, founded a math-science summer enrichment program under a program of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). In retirement, he continues informally at the university as Outreach Professor, and leads problem solving workshops for K-12 teachers and others interested in expanding their mathematical skill and confidence.

He has served on a number of committees of professional organizations including:  the Committee on Minority Participation in Mathematics of the MAA; the Committee on Articulation and Placement, a joint committee of the MAA the Association for Mathematics at Two Year Colleges; the Human Resources Advisory Committee of MSRI; and the Karl Menger Memorial Awards committee of the AMS.

On a personal note, he enjoys hiking and backpacking the mountain trails in this beautiful state.
